Keying on Some Great Fishing

I traveled to the Florida Keys in late July with clients Greg Pflume and Rick Nelson for some offshore Mahi-Mahi, Wahoo, Blackfin Tuna, and more. We set aside two weeks for some serious offshore fishing close to home.

The weather was great: 5-10 mph, ESE to SE every day, no rain, plenty of sun and fun. The fishing was like the weather: very productive; we all had plenty of fish to eat every night, and even managed to bring a good bit home.

We fished the weed lines from 550 feet (depth) to 1300 feet while small groups of birds dipped down to inspect anything of size floating on the surface that held bait! While trolling we fished fresh-brined Ballyhoo on the outriggers and an array of Billy Baits on the three flat lines. All produced fish; as did throwing a pinfish at them on medium spinning rods.

I love going down there every summer, and ove coming home to my family after a little of paradise. Ssee you next year, Florida Keys. I thank the Lord for the fishing and great weather and time there.
