Hoooweeeee! Is this fun or what??? I can’t believe the fishing action when the wind quit blowing!! Two weeks I sat around waiting for the winds to subside and was rewarded graciously by Mother Nature. I try to fish four tide days with the end of the low tide occuring in the mornings followed by another incoming. Generally, you can catch two windows of opportunity in the same fishing trip. A good friend of mine, Jim Griffiths, went fishing early in the morning and caught the end of the low, fished the lull and the soft part of the incoming, which occured around 9:00 in the morning. I didn’t get on the water until after 10:00 and waited for the tide to slow down around 12:45 before I even picked up a strike of any sort. Then it was a forty inch Snook followed by a couple of Trout and Lizard-fish; and on the way home, around 1:45–2:00, I hooked up and landed another Snook at 31 inches in length. Redeeming my break-off of the monster previously mentioned. I will be spending a majority of my summer literally camped out in the Sound. I live right on Pine Island and I figure easy access with permission...??? Why do I want to sleep in a house when I can sleep under the stars. Does the wife mind??? We’ve been married tenyears...No. Distance does make the heart grow fonder, even if the distance is only ten minutes from my driveway. I am trying to make a point to those of us who actually live here year-round.

Get out and enjoy the environment around you. We live in paradise and it is our oyster with minimal cost. The best time of the year is upon us and for the next six months We have this beautiful playground to ourselves; take advantage of it!!! If you have any questions about what to do or where to go here in Pine Island Sound, don’t hesitate to contact me at, and to see videos of some of the latest adventures, go to our web-site at and enjoy the show!!
