Freedom Boat Club’s new owners Bob Daley & John Giglio

The world’s largest boat club, again based in Sarasota, has recently been acquired by two Sarasota residents. Bob Daley and John Giglio purchased the twenty-two year old Freedom Boat Club from a Cincinnati-based investment group earlier this month, bringing the organiztion back to its hometown.

Billing itself as “the alternative to boat ownership,” the Freedom Boat Club offers its members unlimited boating in a wide variety of locations. Along with training and hands-on instruction, Freedom Boat Club provides a full slate of boating experiences in a wide selection of boat styles.

Freedom Boat Club is a members-only boat club with 60 locations spanning from the Southern tip of Florida up to Catawba Island, OH.. It is based on the concept of a shared asset model, which is similar to fractional ownership. Buying a membership gains access to a fleet of boats that are shared among the members of the club. The fleet consists of a variety of boats such as bow riders, cruisers, deck boats and fishing boats. Members aren’t limited to the same boat—or the same type of boat—each time they go on the water.

On-the-water boat safety classes are offered by Freedom Boat Club to ensure that members are comfortable and safe.
