Be careful where you’re swimming!.. Just kidding… No, really, be careful.

Sharks are everywhere. Last week I worked as mate for Capt Treg owner of and our guests from New Jersey caught 70+ Sharks, which is a stellar day. Shark species included bonnet heads, black tips, sand sharks, hammerheads and more. The very next day we had a 40+ shark day between two return customers from Pennsylvania. Some great summer time fishing charters. The Shark bite has remained consistent and will continue to do so throughout the majority of the year here in Tampa, FL.

This weekend I had three of my own charters on cold, windy, rainy days. We managed to have a lot of fun and get sharks to the boat, in a far from ordinary fashion. All of us were wearing bright yellow ponchos and hanging under the top to keep dry. This Monday I had to reschedule a kayak fishing charter for next weekend due to tropical storm Debbie bringing about all of this crazy wind.

Other than that, the fishing is on fire! One group was from England, and they showed up with nothing but bathing suits on the harshest of all days… Luckily they were used to the rain and said it was “warm”. I’ll be honest I was cold myself. We had a great time with some nice 3-footers and a few 5-foot sharks. That day I turned 25 years old. I’m not sure how I got to 25 so fast, but it feels good to get paid to do what I love to do… Fish!
