Winter? What Winter?

Mornings in Pine Island Sound are magical! This is how I start my work day in Pine Island Sound. This is Redfish territory and, with sheets of glass to paddle through, seeing tailing Reds isn't hard. Sight-fishing for Redfish can be an exciting and relaxing way to fish. Normally, I get out of my kayak and wade-fish the flats. I like to be as free as possible when I am fishing. Wind and current are enemies of mine that I side step by getting out of the boat. Yes, an anchor is an option, but when you remain in your kayak you can't see ahead like you can while standing up. Since the water I fish is no more than eighteen inches deep, wade-fishing is my prefered method when on the flats.

The picture was taken on a Wednesday and you can see the lack of traffic on the water during the week. Week days are the quietest days on the water and mornings like the one in the picture are commonplace to us locals.

I am a native of Florida and after watching this years weather reports I can't understand why any amount of money could convince anyone to deal with that mess. Folks are Looney, it must be the water. Glad I live here. If you have regained your sanity and have recently moved to Florida, give me a call or drop me an e-mail and I will share a little bit of my world with you and take you fishing in the middle of Paradise.

Love & Light...
